Posted in Reviews on November 23, 2007 by Mad Bull

So, the other night I was driving home from the gym, when a “Red Rat” song came on… Its called “My MySpace Page”, it sounds good and you can hear it hereso. Anyway, its a funny song, but it has a truthful ring to it, you know? I was feelin’ that song, boy! I mean, Natty could never get bringle about MY MySpace page, because thats just a dawgy dawgy site, but my Hi5 and Facebook pages, now thats another thing! πŸ˜‰

You know, Red Rat has some pretty decent songs, you know! I don’t know how come he isn’t larger on the Dancehall scene. It come een like say him gone real quiet since about 1997. And him was big! Remember “Shelley Anne”? “Dwayne”? “Tight up Skirt”? Ah three bad, bad songs dat, you know! (All from the album, “Oh No, Its Red Rat“)

“Trust me, Dwayne, you cyah have a girl and every night she haffi complain!”.

Yeah man!

Anyway, Red Rat naw tell no lie. I went to his Myspace site and I can see why his girl is “all in a rage”! He really does have some hot girls on his MySpace page. Check out dem ones yah! They arent all that bad, but some ppl will still think they are not worksafe, so…

Love is as skin deep as beauty

Posted in Reviews on September 26, 2007 by Mad Bull

Ok, ok, ok! Not a post from me tonight. No, tonight was a night for a post at The Mad Bull’s Blog. Still, I read a couple of posts over by the site nuffcrap.com and I found the yute Shonari (he is the author) to be quite talented! He has some interesting stuff up, and so I have decided to link to one of his posts.

Ladeez and gentulmen! Go ye forth to Shonari’s site and read! I will recommend to you as a first read this excellent hypothesis about beauty and its relationship to… er… relationships. Here it is : “Love is as skin deep as beauty“. Now go. Read it. I gone to bathe and go to bed. I don’t know about you but I got to go to work in the AM

Stuff – Some Interesting, Some Not So Interesting

Yesterday, MBJr. and I were in Baskin Robbins buying some ice cream. They had Rihanna’s “Umbrella” song playing. MBJr. said to me, “I hate this song! All she says in the whole thing is ‘Umbrella – Ella, Ella, Ella’. I smiled at him, nodded absently and continued to devour my single scoop of Very Berry Strawberry ice cream. I thought to myself, “Well, I still like it, kind of, but I know where the little man is coming from. And yet, I read this morning that Rihanna may make chart history! Apparently her single is poised to become the longest-running number one single for more than a decade! (link via Barbados Free Press) Wow! That is no mean feat! And when I think of it, MBJr. never used to complain about that song… I guess because its been played over and over, everywhere, and for a long time, he has just reached saturation point. Well, I hope he has to endure it awhile longer, because I hope Rihanna does make that record! In fact, I hope she goes to fifteen weeks at number one! A big up goes out to the Caribbean sistren!

In other surfing, I came across this item about Danny English, a Jamaican entertainer, being denied bail. Apparently English is before the courts on carnal abuse and indecent assault charges. It is alleged that he has been messing with this fifteen year old girl. That is bad, because English is a big, hardback man. What makes it even worse though, is that it is said he has been messing with the same girl since she was TWELVE! TWELVE, YOU KNOW! Yow, fifteen is young, very young, but twelve is so off the charts! My God! If its true, the man is a paedophile! If its true, I hope he gets a very, very harsh sentence! An example must be made of him. Damned little mofo! He hardly has any good songs anyway, IMHO! Cho!

I noticed also that Peter Ram, another Caribbean artiste, (Soca this time though) made the newspapers recently for cursing out gays. Here is what was written (link via Bajan Reporter):

Barbadian calypsonian Peter Ram was forced to apologise at a Soca Monarch competition in St. Vincent over the weekend after he used obscene language to criticize homosexuals.

Police and officials of the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) forced the singer on stage to offer a public apology.

The CDC chairman Dennis Ambrose said they don’t condone that type of behaviour at shows whether it is local or foreign artistes.

Ambrose said that the incident involving Ram, whose tune “I Need a Woman By My Side” is enjoying substantial air play was the only damper to what was a great weekend for Vincy Mas.

Interesting, huh? Made to apologise… heh, heh, heh, heh, heh.

Well, I am against homophobia, so that is a good thing. I don’t support lyrics that promote hate. In the same post, the Bajan Reporter talks about a post by Peter Boyce in which he implies that the gays are getting too powerful. He speaks of a controversy that flared up over Peter Ram’s lyrics in the song, “I Need A Woman By My Side”, that part where he sings:

“It is written in Leviticus,
Man shouldn’t lie with man,
Its abomination!”

Boyce seems to suggest that he thinks there is nothing wrong with Peter Ram’s lyrics. Well, I agree with Peter Boyce. Does it sound like I am contradicting myself? I don’t think so. It is one thing to disagree with a homosexual persons’ practices, and quite another thing to promote killing or beating that same person because you disagree with their practices. I feel you should be able to voice your opinion, but I think promoting beating or killing them for those homosexual practices is wrong.

I took MBJr. to watch the latest “Harry Potter” movie last night. It was pretty decent, but it wasn’t “A-1, top notch” stuff. Let me put it to you this way. You know when you go to a movie and at the end people stand an applaud? Well, at the end of this move, a few diehard fans were trying to get some applause going, but the general audience in the theatre wasn’t feeling it. What resulted was a semi-smattering of applause. When they started, I even said to myself, “No, this movie wasn’t really worth applause.” I actually said this out loud and MBJr. heard me. He replied in his most threatening voice, “Never say that!”, so its clear he disagrees with me, but hey, he is seven! Still, the show was entertaining. Go and see it if you’re into that sort of stuff.

Hey, I noticed that WordPress dot Com listed a site called ” ” in its “Fastest Growing blogs list. Can anyone tell me why this site should make that list and my blog seems not to have ever done so? Might it be because Priyanka Chopra looks like this? πŸ˜‰

I bet thats what it is. After all, her site is mainly some pictures… Oh well, men are sexist, what can I say? πŸ˜€

Ok, here comes the part you may consider “not so interesting” (perhaps) : WordPress has written a FaceBook application. Now you can do some blogging from within FaceBook! I decided to try it out, in fact, this post is actually being written from within FaceBook, so clearly it works.

Now if I were a person who was into FaceBook, i.e I used it and really liked it, I might find this useful, but really, I hardly ever use FaceBook. I am mainly trying this out because I am curious about how it works, Its cool that they are able to do things like this, and eventually they will make the links with some other online application that I really want to use.

Based on stuff I have heard though, there are a number of people that I know of who use both WordPress and FaceBook, and so I will leave this post up. Guys and gals, you know who you are… If you use both FaceBook and WordPress, you can now blog from within FaceBook, if you should choose to do so.

Selah.

The Weekend So Far

Posted in General, Got a Question for You?, Reviews on June 9, 2007 by Mad Bull

It is now Sunday. I saw where Gela had passed through one of my blogs and complained bitterly that there had been no post so far. Well, I have the remedy fi dat! Word!

This Friday night was a milestone of sorts… no, its not that it was so fabulous, what was significant about it was that it was the first Friday for the year that I did not drink ANY alcohol! Can you imagine? What a dry, dusty Friday it was too!!! πŸ™‚

Nah, I’m just kidding. It wasn’t so bad, and I made up for that alcohol shortage on Saturday night, so…

Friday night was also interesting because there was a “Trinidad vs. Jamaica” matchup that night. As I mentioned elsewhere, Bunji Garlin and Oscar B. (the Trinis) were having a concert on Cardinall Ave. and Anthony B. and Munga Honorebel (the Jamaicans) were to have been at the Lion’s Centre as well, on the same Friday night. As I also mentioned, Natty did not stamp my “road license” for the night so the Mad Bull wasn’t able to monitor the nights events personally, but a couple of people I met suggested that Anthony B. and Munga were blown out of the water! “If there were ten people in the venue, there were plenty!”, said my gas station attendant. A Jamaican lady I work with also said the same thing. Neither person left the show to see how Bunji and Oscar B. were getting on though, so my comments are rather one sided so far. If I hear more later, I will update you via the comments.

The stuff below, I wrote after I got home last night…

Bwoy, I just got home. I have been out on the road a lot today. In the morning, went to buy some new tires for the car. I was advised to ride it out some more on the same tires by the tire guys, so didn’t change them. Went back home.

Went back out again to look at some land I am contemplating buying. The land is covered with bush so you really can’t get an idea as to whether it is enough to put a house on and still have a nice sized garden, but hey, it is just over a quarter of an acre, so it should be ok. The piece of land is right beside the main road, which is a negative, but it IS a fair bit closer to George Town than where I am living now as well, which is a definite plus! For most things that one has to do, one has to drive into George Town, and gas prices are fucking astronomical, Iyah! CI$4.15 for an imperial gallon?! The only thing worse that could happen is for the sky to fall on my head, to backside!

When I got back home, I heard that a bredrin of mine (the same one who offered me the pit bull puppy recently) was in a car accident. Was he ever! That car was TOTALLED! Let me hasten to add, he wasn’t driving! Still, looking at the car, its a miracle that they are alive. Haven’t been to see him yet, but Natty and I took his daughter out with MBJr. to distract her so that her Mom could stay with my bredrin at the hospital. That was the longest trip out on the road for the day. We left my house about 1:30pm and we didn’t get back until after 10:00pm.

We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (At Worlds End) tonight. That was part of the “distraction” process. Yow!!! That movie is DUMB!!! I was laughing lots in it still, because really, it is a joke! Oh my God! My recommendation for that movie is, if you really feel you must see it, then wait for the DVD. You’ll waste less money. It is another of those sequels that they have made that suggests it is better not to make sequels! The thing is, the way it ended, we can probably expect YET ANOTHER movie in the same series.

Then I saw that they are making a Die Hard 4 when I was in the movie theatre!!? Bwoy, I hope this Die Hard features Bruce Willis’ son as the hard guy, because it might not be so believable otherwise.

Man, it looks like Hollywood has run totally out of ideas! Its like, we might as well bomb Hollywood and switch all our attention to Bollywood, know what I mean?! Cho, man!

Now its Sunday morning. I haven’t really done much for the day as yet, and I don’t know how its going to turn out yet either, so instead of regaling you with my plans for the day, I think I will leave you with a question, kind of like is done frequently over at that site we all know and love, Owensoft dot net (By the way, I have posted a question over there as well, so go and check it out!) Still, this is one of the Mad Bull’s blogs and I am known to be a bit of a chatter bloggerbox, so I will take a little while to get to the question.

Yow! Check out these photos:

Doesn’t Miss Mexico look hot?! Yeah, boy, she pretty and she shape right! Shes a hot tamale! As you can tell, I do have an eye for the ladies. You didn’t know? Well, welcome to my site, newcomer… Go through my archives and you will quickly get the picture… πŸ˜‰

In another life, I used to go out with this psycho girl. She was crazy, but she knew how to rock my world! Still, she was jealous nuh bitch and she used to go crazy whenever she caught me looking at another woman. This was a frequent occurrence, because my eyes are simply drawn to beauty like a magnet is to steel! The relationship was understandably short lived therefore. Lets call her “Lady Green”, shall we?

Anyway, one day, Lady Green and I went out. Another lovely lass entered the venue and our eyes made four. Lady Green spotted the lass checking me out and she commented on it! “Watch that likkle whore nuh? When she see you, she just light up! She nuh see say you have somebody?!”, she said. The lovely lass kept looking at me, apparently, because I got a running commentary on how often she was checking me out and on the virtue of her mother, her sisters, her brothers and herself! A little later, I spotted the young miss again, and as I was giving her a furtive once over, she looked in my direction, saw me looking and smiled. Lady Green (who had eyes like a hawk) spotted that exchange as well! “Hey, I hope you not looking at her, you know!”, she said. “You know what! I know you are nothing but a fucking dawg and you can’t help yourself! If I see her look at you ONE MORE TIME, I am going to go over there and scratch her eyes out! Since I can’t stop you, I going make sure that she is too afraid to do anything!”. Since I knew that Lady Green was more than willing to do exactly what she threatened, I thought it prudent to leave the venue shortly after that.

This leads me to my question: What do you think is an appropriate response to a significant other who has roving eyes? Give me some feedback nuh? Show me some love!

It Sweet So Till!

Bwoy, I just ate the sweetest Jerk Pork I have ever had! Listen nuh man! Seymours Jerk Centre sells escoveitched fish, jerk pork, jerk chicken and jerked ribs too, I believe. Anyway, today I told the woman serving me to put the onions, pepper and the vinegar that they normally put on the fish on the jerked pork, plus the regular jerk pork pepper, plus the ketchup. MMMM MMMMM!!!!

Trust me, that pig tasted like it was prepared in God’s kitchen, Rasta! Yeah, I know that the bible says that you mustn’t eat pork, but thats just politics, man! I feel that was just a bit of a misinterpretation by the writer of the words God was dictating to him!

Listen me nuh, the pork sweet, it sweet, it sweet, it sweet! If you get a chance to try it, make sure you do! I know I am going back for more!

For “Evo” Fans Everywhere!

The Mitsubishi Evolution X Prototype

Here is some required reading on the Evo Prototype X that I came across in today’s Jamaica Gleaner… Here is some more verbiage and also some irie pictures of the car. I guess I need to start putting all my quarters into my piggy bank instead of into that stinking vending machine at work, huh? Also, I probably need to brown bag it more, nuh true? 😐

At least I have until 2008 to get my funds together. Yes, I am accepting charitable donations!

By the way, I happened to see the movie “Transporter 2” yesterday, on HBO, I think… What a show lie, eeeh? Still, it was damned exciting anyway! Owen bigged it up a while aback but I didn’t get to see it then. Well, yesterday I was around to a bredrin’s house for a brief stop. I was returning a pickaxe I had borrowed (to sink the pole for this satellite dish that I just bought), and I was also asking him to drop by my house to help me align the dish. He flipped on to the movie and that was it! I stayed and watched the whole thing! Good show! If you haven’t seen it, try to scout it out….
